What is MMS or Multimedia Messaging Service?

The Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) by Simmetry PCS, as its name suggests, is a service enabling users to send and receive messages containing a combination of text, photos, sound and video to MMS capable handsets.

What you need to be an MMS user?

1. MMS Capable handset supporting the Simmetry data network (GPRS/EDGE)
2. MMS services enabled on your account

How do I get the MMS service?

  1. Contact Simmetry or visit your local Simmetry store for details on getting started.
  2. Once you are signed up as an MMS Simmetry subscriber your number is then registered on the Simmetry MMS platform by Simmetry.
  3. After Simmetry has registered you a text message will be sent to your mobile phone informing you that your phone has been registered. This message may also contain your login name and password. With this information you can now login to http://mms.simmetrypcs.com on the web using a computer where you can also use your MMS service!
  4. You should also receive a second text message with additional settings to save on your phone. Now MMS is set up on your mobile and you're ready to send and receive MMS messages on your phone.

OTA or "Over The Air"

Some phones are capable of receiving installation and configuration settings litteraly "over the air". For these users, after Simmetry has registered you for MMS service, a text message is sent via OTA to the phone with these settings etc. Before using the MMS service the user needs to follow the onscreen instructions saving the settings to the phone. After completing this step you should be able to send MMS messages.

For phones without OTA ability the MMS settings need to be input manually. Contact your Simmetry representative for assistance on this.

Once setup for MMS service, who can I send an MMS message to? You can send to:

  1. Other MMS capable phones with MMS services setup through a cellular carrier.
  2. Phones that have not been registered on the Simmetry MMS system (called Legacy Phones).
  3. Some non MMS capable phones. Some phones without MMS abilities can still view some or part of the MMS messages that are sent TO them. However they my not be able to then send an MMS message BACK to you, instead just replying using the message service they do have such as standard text messaging.
  4. E-mail addresses.
  5. Upload image to your Photo Album located on the web at http://mms.simmetrypcs.com by sending your image via an MMS message to the number "111" (just as you would send to another subscriber only replacing the receiving phone number with "111").
